Milos, one of the most beautiful Islands of Cyclades is located in the southwestern part of the Cyclades archipelago in the Aegean Sea.

Located at a distance of 86 nautical miles from Piraeus, Milos covers an area of 158.4 square kilometers. With a coastline stretching 139.06 km, the island boasts diverse landscapes, including prominent peaks like Profitis Illias, towering at 751 meters. The approximate population of Milos is around 5,000 residents, distributed across eight charming villages: Plaka, Plakes, Triovasalos, Pera Triovasalos, Trypiti, Polonia, Zefyria, and Adamantas.

For transportation, Milos is well-connected by ports, linking the island to Piraeus, Sifnos, Serifos, Kimolos, Santorini, Ios, Folegandros, Syros, Heraklion, Agios Nikolaos, Sitia, Rhodes, Kasos, and Karpathos, as of 2006.

By air, Milos is also accessible, with a flight duration of approximately 25 minutes between Athens and Milos.

About 4.5 km From Adamantas harbor, at least 500 m (3 min.), from our apartments Vivere a Plakes, you can find some very good food choices, sweets and Ice-creams, drinks and traditional Greek “Raki”.

Just a short distance from Plaka, you’ll discover the charming village of Trypiti. In Trypiti, there are a few but excellent options for food, as well as delightful choices for sweets and drinks.

Catacombs

The Catacombs of Milos are an ancient underground Christian cemetery located on the island of Milos, dating to the 1st-5th century AD.

The catacombs are found near the modern settlement of Trypiti, next to the site of the agora of the ancient city of Melos and 200 m to the east of the ancient theatre. The name Trypiti derives from the fact that the surrounding area is full of caves cut into the porous volcanic rock, which are still used by the inhabitants as storerooms and stables. In ancient times, these caves were used as family burial chambers. The galleries are of differing widths, ranging from 1 to 5 metres in width and from 1.6 to 2.5 metres in height. In addition to the tombs cut into the walls, there are also many graves cut into the ground and covered with unworked stones of irregular sizes.

Pollonia

Pollonia is the island’s second most important tourist resort, nestled on the charming N.E coast. This picturesque fishing village embraces a bay with a remarkable sweeping sandy beach, bordered by white-washed houses that create a postcard-perfect scene.

An elevated position on a small promontory reveals the delightful church of Agia Paraskevi, providing a captivating focal point. Tavernas, restaurants, and traditional island coffee shops are nestled near the church, offering a taste of local flavors. Witness the daily arrival of boats and caiques at the jetty, bringing fresh catches of fish, octopus, and lobster.

Take a stroll along the beach road to Pelekouda, an appealing newly built district with island-style houses and accommodations for summer visitors. At the peninsula’s end lies the well-maintained church of Agios Nicholas, honoring the patron saint of seafarers.

Pollonia, just 12 km (13 min) from Adamantas, is a great destination for excellent dining and refreshing beverages, making it an ideal destination for your island getaway.
